The Adventures Of Kit Hood And Her Merry Men

Kit was bored. Soccer season was over, Kailey was at basketball practice, Chrissa at swim practice, Kirsten at the frozen pond skating. Molly and Emily had gone to Illinois to visit their families for the weekend. 'What to do, what to do,' she thought, pacing in her dorm room. 'Write a letter to Charlie? No I did that yesterday. Call up Stirling or Ruthie? No, Stirling's working and Ruthie's at her grandmother's house. Take Coconut for a walk? No, he hates the cold.' Kit sat down on the couch. "I've got it!" she yelled, jumping up. "I'll read my Robin Hood book. I'm never bored when I'm doing that." Kit crawled under her bed and came back out with her bag. She pulled her favorite story out of it and started reading. Immediately she was whisked away to another world . . . . . . . . . . .
"Robin!" Somebody called, "Robin Hood!" Kit turned to the source of the voice. "Ah, Little John. What news have you?" The man standing in front of Kit was huge.
"Not good news, I'm afraid," Little John replied sadly. "Today the Sheriff of Nottingham took ten pounds from the tailor, Mr. Honus. Said some nonsense about not paying his taxes."
"We cannot let this be!" Kit cried. "We must get Mr. Honus's money back. He's a good man. Has a wife and eight little ones. They can use every little bit. Let us be off." Kit grabbed her bow and quiver of arrows and took off down the path through Sherwood Forest.
"Off where, Robin?" Little John asked, close behind.
"To the sheriff's castle- where else? Tonight, under the cover of darkness, we will get Mr. Honus his money back."
That night, Kit sat with Little John just outside the Castle gates. "You know that plan," Kit whispered. Little John nodded and tip-toed away. Kit counted to one hundred, then lit the tip of an arrow on fire and fired it straight up into the sky. She then hurried away, knowing that some of the sheriff's knights would be on the scene any moment. The arrow was a distraction, so that Little John could get what he needed. Kit had not been running long when the two of them met up.
"Here it is, Robin," Little John muttered, handing her a ring of keys. "The guard left them on a hook when he rushed to find the arrow."  "Thank you, Little John." Kit then slipped away and made her way to the castle gate. She hoisted herself over and continued to the fortress ahead of her. The second key she tried fit the main door. Kit tip-toed up the stairs, then down a long hallway, looking for a certain door. Finally, she found it. The door was unlocked, and Kit slipped in. This was the Sheriff's bedroom. Kit knew he kept all of his money in here while he slept. She picked up ten pounds in coins off of his night stand, no more, no less, and then hurried out of the room, down the hallway, down the stairs, over the gate, and toward Sherwood forest.
She was just about to shout the good news to Little John, who was up ahead, when she heard something.
"Hi Kit!" Kit looked up from her book and saw that Kailey had just returned from practice.
      "Oh, hey Kailey."
"So what have you been doing here all day?" Kailey asked.
     "Oh, just day dreaming."

Happy Birthday Alan Alda!

Hi! This has absolutly nothing to do with American Girl or dolls, but I just want to say that today is one of my favorite actor's birthday - Alan Alda! He's a pretty famous actor, though his height of popularity was in the '70's - '80's. I really loved him as Hawkeye in MASH (has anyone ever seen it?). I think it's a really great show, but if you're on the younger side, ask your parents before you watch it. It uses some words, but nothing too bad. If it were a movie, it'd be rated PG-13. (Don't get thrown by the MASH movie, which I've never seen because my parents say it's much more inappropriate and not as good in general.)I think the show on TV Land sometimes. It used to be on Hallmark before it went to all Martha Stewert. :(

Who's your favorite actor/actress? Don't forget to vote on my poll! Bye!

Valentine's Day Mini Photo Shoot!

Hi! A few days ago I did a mini Valentine's Day photo shoot with Molly (hence the title). It's only five pictures, but I hope you enjoy it!

Molly loves making these things; hearts for Valentine's Day, shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day, Snowmen for Christmas, People for Unity Day, even Trees for Arbor Day!

Another angle. Yes, she's sitting in front of a door.

She's so proud of her hearts.

Looks like she's making some more!

I love this picture so much!!!!

Also, I need blogger help! As you probably noticed, I'm having issues with the header. Any idea why it's so weird? Thanks!

~Katie (and Molly)~

PS Thanks to everyone who voted on my poll. It looks like most of your AG wishes are that everything was less expensive. I agree! Check out the new poll!

Just letting you know that I changed the background and got new animations. As you can see, I love music and Valentine's Day. I'll put up a new header pic soon, one that's more appropriate for the theme.
Do you love it, hate it, or think it's alright? Comment and let me know!

It's time for the second clue for my contest! To read about the rules, prizes, ect go here. I was thrilled with the guesses I got already! They were all great ideas and I could end up doing some of them eventually . . . . :)

Anyway, the second clue is *Drum roll please*:
It was first performed on Broadway in 1994.

So let's recap; you know that the next play I'm doing with my dolls
1. is a musical
2. was first performed on Broadway in 1994.

I can't wait to see your guesses!
Check back on Tuesday for the first picture clue! :)

~Katie

Edit: I just realized that my rules for the contest could be misinterpreted. You may vote once per clue, meaning that if you voted on the first clue, you may vote again on this clue, but not on the first clue again. Does this make sense? If you have a question, comment and ask me, and sorry about any confusion.

My First Contest!

As the title explains, with this post I am begining my very first contest! It's a guessing game, for the next play I'll be doing with my dolls. Twice a week (Tuesday and Saturday) I'll give you a hint as to what play it is going to be. The hint could be anything from a picture to the name of an actor/actress who played the main part in the original professional performance. Once somebody guesses (By commenting) what the play will be correctly, they win! What you're probably all really wondering is WHAT'S THE PRIZE? Well, since this is my first contest, I'll start with a fairly small prize: a blog award (designed by me) and a look at the play a week before everyone else gets to see it! (We'll work out exactly how we'll do this, but I have ideas) I'll also send you sneak peaks occasionally, if you'd like.

Here's the first hint:
It's a musical!

The hints will get better as the contest progresses.

One more thing, this contest has a few rules:
1. Have your parent's permission; if you win you will most likely have to give me your e-mail address. (I will not share it, and I won't e-mail you after the contest if you do not want me to.)
2. Don't guess more than once per clue, please! If you do guess more than once on the same clue, I will delete the second and if it's right, it will not count.
3. If two people guess the right play on the same clue, I will give the prize to the person who posted the comment first. Why? Because that's the only fair way I see. (The second person could have seen the first person's guess and just guessed it for that reason.)

Please enter! Thank you!

Blog Updates

Hi! Molly here, just letting you know about some new blog updates. First, Katie put a picture on the header. I like it, it matches the snow theme. :) Do you like it? Also, there's a new poll up. If you could have one AG wish granted, what would it be? Please vote! There's a new page, as you might have noticed, called 'About Me' it just says a bit about how Katie got into AG. It all started with ME her first doll and still her favorite. Katie: Molly, you know I don't have favorites. Molly: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Anyway, last but not least, some behind the scenes stuff. We've started working on the next play! It won't be released for a couple of months, but Katie's making some of the costumes, which is why we're getting such a big head start. Soon there's going to be a contest about it, details soon! Hasta la vista!

Chrissa's Swimming Competition!

Hey people of the world! Chrissa, here! Today I have a swimming competition. I don't like to brag, but I'm an excellent swimmer, which is why I earned a full scholarship here. :) Kailey claims that if she were on the swim team she'd beat me every time, but she's wrong. She may be from California, but I've been competing since first grade.

I need all this stuff and more for my competition. Quite a bit, huh? I carry it all in my Hello Kitty tin thing. I know it's little-kiddish, but my grandma gave it to me before the first swimming competition I ever won, so I keep it.

First I need my sweats so I don't freeze to death waiting for it to be my turn to compete. The sweat pants go in the tin, but I'm going to wear the sweat shirt there so I don't freeze to death outside.

Next I need my bathing suit and swim cap. The cap keeps my hair contained so it doesn't drag in the water and slow me down, in case you were wondering.

I also like to bring my Sham-WOW with me. I use it to wipe down my arms and legs quickly after I get out of the pool. It doesn't work as well as it does in the commercial, but Kailey got it for me for my birthday as a joke gift, so I bring it.

Next my goggles so I don't get water in my eyes. One time I forgot them when I went to practice, and after I swam my eyes got really red and stayed like that for a week. It was pretty painful.

Last but certainly not least is my stuffed duck, Quackers. Most of you know about my obsession with ducks, especially the one that lives in the pond by the community center, William. This stuffed duck is my lucky charm, every time I bring him I do really well.

I also bring my kick board for warm ups, but it doesn't fit in the tin. Now it's time to head to the bus so the rest of the team and I can go to the pool.

Here we are, in the locker room of the pool! Er, give me a minute. I need to change.

There we go! Much better. Now, a little stretching and then down to the pool to warm up. :)

Kick, kick, kick! You need strong leg muscles to be a swimmer! I get them ready to work hard by taking a few laps around the pool on my kick board.

Now for the back stroke, to warm up my arms. You really have to be in good physical shape everywhere to be a competing swimmer.

Hey, look! All my friends are here to cheer me on- even Kailey! They're all waving and shouting good luck at me. Oh, looks like we're about to start.

When the gun sounds (It's not loaded, it's just for the sound) I dive into the pool, thinking about nothing but the other side that is my goal to reach before anyone else.

'Keep on going!' I tell myself, unaware of anything else as I pump my arms. 'Almost there!'

Finally I touch the other end. Looking around, I see that I'm the first! I won!

I pull myself out of the pool, throw my head back and yell: YES!

I receive my award shortly after, with people from my school cheering. Thanks to this win, our school advances to the state championships. We're known as a swimming school, so this isn't unusual but it still feels great. 8D

My best friend Kirsten rushes up to me and throws her arms around me even though I'm still soaking wet. "Chrissa, you were amazing!" she exclaims, and I smile. :)

Thanks for reading! Bye!

Just A Quick Update

Hey! Just saying that I discovered banners recently. I know it's kinda sad that I had no clue what a banner was until Emma told me, but now that I know what they are I love them! I made one for my website, it's on the side bar. If you want to put it on your website, just copy the code underneath it, and paste it in the html/java thing when you add a gadget. Do you like my banner? Comment and let me know!

PS I have some cool posts planned for the weekend, so check back in the next few days!

I Heart American Girl Entry

Meet Maggie Marx. She's eleven years old as sweet as can be. She lives in a small town called Bellingham in Arizona. She's always wanted to do something to make a difference but never really got around to carrying out her plans to save the rain forest or raise money for earthquake victims. Then, her best friend and sister Sarah is diagnosed with leukemia and has to go to Phoenix, which is almost two hours away, once a month for days at a time for treatment. Maggie decides it's time to put one of her helping plans to action. With her faithful golden doodle, Maxie by her side, Maggie comes up with the idea to host a square dance in her family's old barn, charging five dollars for a night of dancing and music, but when only her family and a few very close friends show up, will Sarah be able to teach Maggie an important lesson about how sometimes it's not about how big your project is, but that you want to help
at all?

Do you like it? It's for a contest run by I Heart American Girl. Did you enter this contest? Are you planning to? Thanks for reading!
~Katie

PS: Thank you to everybody who voted on my poll! I'm flattered so many people liked my version of 'A Christmas Carol'! If you didn't vote yet and want to, do so soon because it closes in two days. Thank you!

So I've Been Doing Some Detective Work . . . .

Title kinda explains what this post is about. So, I got the new AG catalogue in the mail today. While looking at the special edition mini dolls, I noticed something: There's going to be a new one released every month for a year. There's twelve months in a year, right? There have only been ten historical characters! (Not including best friends, if you did, there would be fifteen) What does this mean? You may ask. Here's what I think: AG is releasing two new historicals! Wouldn't that be so cool! I can't think of any other reasonable explination, if you can, comment and say it.

Oh, also a really cool blog called I Heart American girl (this website) is having a contest to design a GOTY (girl of the year) doll. It's mostly just for fun, but she's giving prizes to the first, second and third place winners! I'm going to enter later this week, when I do I'll post it. Please visit her website and consider entering her contest!

Last but not least, thank you American Girl Dolls Rock for following my blog! I so agree with your name!

Hasta La Vista!

Happy 2011!

Happy 2011 everyone! I'm so excited for this upcoming year! Kanani is on AG's website, and she is pretty. I don't think I'm going to get her, though. What about you? Are you planning on getting her? Anyway, I was thrilled to see that every single historical time period got a new outfit! Here are my favorites:

Isn't this adorable? I'm so happy because this is the first time in years that AG released something new for Molly that I like! I wasn't a big fan of the sweater set they released two years ago, and I don't think there's been anything since. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Rebecca looks amazing in white, doesn't she? The shoes are really cute, and I love the bow! The lace is so pretty.

I think this dress is pretty, but I don't think it's good for Kit. I think it looks too expensive, too. Would be much better for Ruthie.

There was also a new dress-up outfit and new PJ's on the website:

This is really pretty, but she looks alot like a bride, don't you agree? I guess it would be good if she were a bridesmaid or flower girl. I love the purple accents, it gives the outfit personality.

I think these are pretty cute. The boots are the best part. The ties on the shorts look kinda weird, but if you loosed them I think they'd be cool. The shirt is adorable, too.

Well, that's about it. I hope everyone has a fantastic year!
~Katie

PS Thanks to my new follower, Leah!

PPS A couple of months ago (before I started this blog) I wrote to AG complaining that they were retiring dolls and not coming out with new ones, and they said they were planning on releasing new historical characters fairly soon when they wrote back to me, so this year could be promising in that category!
